Ratnapura - Udawalawa - Nuwara Eliya - Sigiriya - Dambulla

Morning leave to Rathnapura to visit Gem mines and Gem Museum. En-route proceed to Udawalawa National park.

Day 01: Ratnapura / Udawalawa

Given the name which means “city of gems” Ratnapura is indeed famous as the centre of the long established industry of precious stone mining. Located in the Sabaragamuwa province about 100km from Colombo Ratnapura contains semi-mild weather throughout the year. Also with large plantations of tea and rubber Ratnapura is a much sought tourist location.

Udawalawa National Park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe reservoir. Udawalawa is an important habitat for water birds and Sri Lankan Elephants. It is a popular tourist destination and the third most visited park in the country.

Day 02 & 03: Nuwara Eliya / Haggala Garden

Proceed to Nuwara Eliya in the morning. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya is considered to be once of cities that maintain cold weather throughout the year. Famous for the beautiful misty hills, waterfalls, tea, flower and vegetable plantations, Nuwara Eliya receives many local and foreign visitors all throughout the year.

Just 10km away from Nuwar Eliya City, Haggala is one of the places one visits as an essential part of the tour. The present botanical gardens were founded in 1860 by the eminent British botanist Dr. G.H.K. Thwaites who was the superintendent of more famous gardens at Peradeniya, near Kandy

Day 04: Sigiriya / Dambulla

Morning leave to Habarana visiting Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple

Sigiriya has been accredited as a UNESCO world heritage site, due to the splendid historical and cultural value it upholds. Sigiriya has so much experience to offer as it is considered to be one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning in Sri Lanka and also the most visited historic site. Through the finding of archeological experiments, Sigiriya is also referred to as the 8th world wonder.

Dambulla is known for the famous cave temple which boasts a significant archeological and historical value. It is the largest and the best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka which contains statues and paintings.

Day 05: Colombo

Morning at leisure, return to Colombo for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Clarion, Kiribathgoda
